Should we send Duo lanes top now?

So as I was listening to riot’s patch notes for pre-season and I started thinking, why send the duo lane bot? My reasoning is that early dragon does not matter that much, with two top you can easily force the top laner out or at least push him in and then take rift harold. With rift Harold and the new squishy turrets you could easily take the first top tower and probably the inner one as well. You will have the numbers advantage. Although for this to work as I stated you will need a decently strong early game jungler, a relatively even mid lane match up on your side, and a “top laner” who can hold decently well (like a mordekaiser or something). Now going back to before, you do not even have to push top. In some cases you could just send four mid and grab two tower with rift harold buff. Now of course pushing mid will probably be harder since it is easier for people to rotate to.

The snowball: If you can get two turrets out of this it opens up a lot of the map and can allow your early game dominant jungler (if you picked something like elise, lee, etc) to do really whatever they want to. Also, the gold advantage you get from the early towers will now make all of your minions stronger. After you take the towers you can then send your “top laner” back up top to do whatever and send the duo back bot. With the empowered minions, tower advantage, and gold advantage you should be able to proceed to take dragons and more towers to further snowball.

Conclusion: So yes there are flaws and this is full of “what ifs”. Some flaws would be, you need to communicate in champ select and in game a lot more (hard for solo Q), not being over aggressive and messing the whole thing up, getting all the champion picks you want, and there are probably more but its late at night so you can think of them. Now I realize that this is basically the lane swaps that LCS does but im talking about how much stronger it will now be and implementing it into the average game instead of just LCS.

Im all up for discussion and thanks for reading all this. With all the stuff riot changed they are making a big risk. A lot of things could pop up that basically make the game unplayable but this is pre-season so anything goes and don’t hate on riot just yet.

How Good is Brand?

Introduction: Brand has been a hot topic for a while now. People have always wondered how he fits into the meta, if he is a good pick, and more recently if/when you should play him support. This is not a straight up guide but my insights on the champion although you may still learn a bit on how to play him.

Brand mid: Champions are usually pick (in ranked) because they have something that other champions don’t, they benefit your team composition, or you are really good at that champion. If you are extremely good at a champion it usually doesn’t matter if the champion is actually good so I will not cover that any further. So what does Brand have that other champions don’t? Well he is a mid range mage so he is usually in the middle of what you want. This means he won’t have the wave clear of Ziggs or the burst of Le Blance but instead he has decent wave clear and decent burst. Although with Liandrys Torment he does a lot of percent damage. This helps his effectiveness a lot because of all the juggernaut popularity and with the new health items. Also with his high base damage just getting double penetration items will let you burst their squishies with ease. This allows some variance with his build which is always nice. For team compositions pick him if you need decent wave clear and good area damage or if you need a decent eat to deal with tanks.

Support: First, the thing that makes Brand support even considered is his Q being a two second stun. Although the main question is why pick Brand support over Zyra support. They both have high damage for being a support, they both have a skill shot CC ability, both have good damage over time, and both have good AoE damage as well. Let’s start with some things that Zyra has over Brand. She only needs to land one ability to CC a target, early game damage is a bit higher, built in CDR, and two CC abilities that can hit multiple targets over Brand’s one which makes her very good at stopping dives. Now Brand’s CC is on a much lower cooldown, CC is longer, more AoE damage, and has two targeted abilities. As you can see Zyra does have more things going for her than Brand does. Now I haven’t calculated there damage or anything so keep that in mind but unless you play Brand a lot then Zyra is probably the better support overall. Feel free to try it out though.

Brand’s state in the meta: Brand has almost always been just below the line of champions you want to pick. There are a few reasons for this. One, he is mid ranged so champions like Xerathe, Ziggs, and Lux are hard for him to touch. Second, two spells are needed to peel people off of you and many times both of those spells will be skill shots. Third, he can be difficult to play. Getting the combos right and knowing how to use abilities for different situations can be quite a challenge for some. He can bring a lot of team fight power but so do a lot of other champions, people just don’t like that he is in the middle of everything you want in a mid laner.

In Conclusion: So how good is Brand? Well i’d say that Brand is definitely not the strongest mid laner right now but he is pretty good if you learn him a bit. Also, he is by far a better mid laner than support. So try him out since I doubt Riot will be nerfing him anytime soon.

Thanks for reading: Here some quick tips for you if you read through the whole thing.

  • Don’t be afraid to use your ult just to get your passive on them, even if it can’t bounce you can then stun them and follow up
  • Using W and then Q right after at a far range will cause them to get stunned right when W goes off
  • You can Q at max range and then flash E a target to get a stun off

Lucian Blaga

Lucian is the new champion coming out for League of Legends. Lucian appears to be a ranged AD champion. This champion has high mobility and seems to play a good role as ADC.

Abilities:

  • Lightslinger: Whenever Lucian uses an ability his next auto attack will attack twice but the second one does reduced damage.
  • Piercing light: Lucian shoots a bolt of light that damages enemies in a line.
  • Ardent Blaze: Fires an exploding shot that mark enemies hit. When you shoot an enemy marked you gain a short burst of speed.
  • Relentless pursuit: Lucian will dash forward, removing all slowing effects and if he kill and opponent with his ultimate the cool down is refreshed.
  • The culling: Lucian can move freely while firing in a single direction. He can cast relentless pursuit when doing this.

Tactics:

When playing as Lucian constantly hit your enemies during the start to keep them away so they get denied experience. After you have hit them enough you should be able to get a kill with ardent blaze, relentless pursuit, and the culling. Using these three abilities in a combo should let you do a lot of damage while letting you keep up with your enemy.

When getting into later game with many team fights, try to stay back and do as much damage as possible. If enemies try to target you then use relentless pursuit to get some distance. Other good things to do when being chased would be to use ardent blaze then the culling to freely run and shoot behind while getting increased movement speed because of ardent blaze.

Conclusion:

Lucian will be a great champion for running away or when trying to chase. Being able to move freely with his ultimate will give him a huge advantage when trying to kite an enemy.

Rune and Mastery Tips

Runes and mastery are little boosts to make your champion better. When you level up you get one more mastery to use on your mastery page. Runes work very differently. You can buy runes at any time but I don’t advise buying them until level twenty because that is when you can buy the best runes. The runes that can be bought at the start are not that good. Try to use rune and masteries that fit the champion that you are using. For example, armor seals when playing as a tank champion.

Building Your Champion

When in game it is important to have a good build. Building your champion depends on three things, your champion, the role you have, and the enemy team. Your champion is the most important part of deciding what your build will be. For intense, you wouldn’t want to build AP on an AD champion. The role you are playing also decides your build. When you are playing support you won’t need much attack damage. Even what the enemy team is like can decide your build. If the enemy team is build a lot of armor you should get some armor penetration.

Being in a Lane

In most cases you will be in a lane for your game. When in a lane there are two things you can do, push or hold. When pushing a lane it is important to buy wards so you won’t get ambushed. Do not push a lane without minions to take tower hits. When holding a lane you don’t want to stray far from your tower because when you are hit by an enemy champion the turret will target that champion.

Jungling

Jungling can be a very hard task and is even harder to master. When jungling you stick between the lanes and kill the jungle monsters for XP and gold. The jungler’s main job is to help any lane that needs it. When jungling it is important to plan your route because a low leveled jungler isn’t a good use to anybody. Also, it is dangerous to ambush a lane that is close to an enemy turret so hang back and wait.

There are some little tips that can really help. I hope that these tips and tricks can improve your gameplay.

League of Legends Review

League of Legends
League of Legends

League of Legends (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

League of Legends is an amazing free-to-play game. This is a magic and sorcery game in which you need to destroy objectives. The point of your enemies is to stop you while they try to destroy their objectives. League of Legends is about playing in games to unlock more playable characters. The characters that you can unlock are called champions. The more games that you play, the more champions that can be unlocked. There are two forms of currency in League of Legends. One form of currency is riot points. You get a few riot points (RP) to start off with but the rest you have to buy. The other form is influence points (IP). Influence points are gained through playing games. There are also runes and mastery points but that will be talked about in “getting started”.

Pros: League of Legends is an amazing game because of all the options that are available. There are many different champions that all have their own unique abilities. The fighting is a great experience because of its set up.

Cons: Although League of Legends is a good game there are some flaws. One of them is that you don’t get a lot of influence points per game. When trying to save up for an expensive champion it can take a long time. Another problem is that some champions cost too much.

Getting started: When you start playing League of Legends I recommend that you go straight to playing the tutorial because it will help you understand the basics. After that you should play co-op vs AI or make a custom game; play with any friends that have some experience with the game, it can really help. I don’t recommend starting with PvP because it is a challenging game mode. When in a game use the recommended section in the shop; it is good for beginners. When you start to get better at the game you start experimenting with your own builds. Runes and masteries are tiny boosts that can help you. Don’t worry about runes for a while but use a mastery point at every level.

Conclusion: League of Legends is an exciting game. Getting started can be difficult because there are many things you need to understand. Playing with friends can greatly increase the experience of the game. When you feel ready, play some PvP and keep getting better.
